About DVDCount.com

DVDCount.com is a free online media database & cataloging resource which allows members to keep track of their media collection and access it from anywhere in the world via the Internet. It was written specifically for this purpose so incorporates many useful features that collectors will appreciate.

The site currently has quite a large database of media titles from all over the world and we intend to keep building this and become one of the largest public sources of information available.

Membership is by no means required to browse or search our database so even guests can benefit from the effort gone into gathering the information.

Background of the site

DVDCount.com came into being in October 2008 after the demise of the well known cataloging site DVDSpot.com.

My initial idea was simply to provide a quick & easy way to list my own DVD's online without any unnecessary bloat. As I continued development I thought that others may benefit from its use aswell. Those around from the beginning will remember that the first version of the site was quite basic and essentially just allowed users to make a text-based list of their DVD collection. While this was handy it was clear from the feedback that I received that people wanted a bit more so this led me to dedicate more time to developing the site.

Current status

DVDCount.com has came along way since it's beginning. It is now in its third incarnation, ironically called DVDCount v2.0, which was released in October 2009 as close to the 1 year anniversary of the launch of the site as possible.

This code behind this site is the sole effort of myself (kazper) and I've put a lot of work into the current (and latest) version of the site. Over the last year I have kept track of the many feature requests made by our members and tried to implement as many as possible. I am, by no means, an expert at PHP/MYSQL so I have done the best I can and hope that I have created a resource that is useful to members and guests.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the coding of the site you can contact me via the contact page or if you are a member you can message me directly.
