Academy Award® winner Robert Redford (1990, Best Director, ORDINARY PEOPLE) captures the majesty of the Montana wilderness and the poetry of fly fishing in this acclaimed, lyrical adaptation of Norman Maclean's classic novella. Craig Sheffer and Brad Pitt star as brothers straining against the expectations of their stern minister father. Eldest brother Norman (Sheffer) eventually leaves home and becomes a disciplined scholar, while younger brother Paul (Pitt) becomes a reckless ladies' man and descends a slippery path to self-destruction. The fine ensemble cast also includes Tom Skerritt, Oscar®-nominee Brenda Blethyn (1995, Best Actress, SECRETS & LIES) and Emily Lloyd.
